CNN reported, “[i]t’s unclear when the agency will roll out the changes to the exam. USCIS declined to comment on the planned revisions.” But what’s important to consider is that named in Joe Biden’s transition plan is Ur Jaddou, a former USCIS chief counsel who has shined a light on the agency’s radicalization under Trump and Cuccinelli. Jaddou is now being “viewed as a frontrunner for USCIS director,” The Washington Post’s Nick Miroff tweeted. – Advertisement – CNN reports the draft memo seeks to double the number of civics questions applicants are asked, from 10 to 20. That means a passing score would tick up from six correct answers to 12. “The memo also says USCIS officers will ask all 20 questions, rather than stopping when an applicant reaches the passing score,” the report continued, along with asking more questions about U.S. history, civics, “more topics touching on specific amendments to the Constitution,” as well as “the ‘rationale for the legislative branch structure.’”I mean, the fucking goal posts we create for immigrants who want to become American citizens when the American president makes a daily mockery of American institutions, including the “legislative branch structure” to which he’s taken a sledgehammer (along with the rest of the government). Consider his stupid, useless, racist border wall.- Advertisement – Immigrants are supposed to know that Congress is one part of the federal government and that its two chambers make and pass laws, but apparently that’s not necessary for the president to have to acknowledge or respect. Unable to get the billions upon billions he wanted for his wall that he claimed Mexico was supposed to pay for (a five-year-old lie he was still repeating as recently as last month), he just stole it. Just took it. I’m sure that won’t be in the proposed citizenship test. Applicants are also asked about “rule of law,” something else Trump and his officials consider entirely optional. I mean, the acting director of USCIS—you know, the agency administering this test—was actually unlawfully serving in his job! The fact that anti-immigrant loudmouth Ken Cuccinelli has unlawfully served in the Trump administration is actually the finding of several entities, including a federal judge in March and the Government Accountability Office in in August. As an apparent go-around, Cuccinelli’s title at USCIS is now “Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Director.” That’ll do it, I guess.“Updating, maintaining, and improving a test that is current and relevant is our responsibility as an agency in order to help potential new citizens fully understand the meaning of U.S. citizenship and the values that unite all Americans,” Cuccinelli actually had the gall to say out loud last year, CNN reported. Those are the rules for you. When it comes to him, he refuses to resign and we’ll likely be stuck with him until President-elect Joe Biden gets sworn in next year. Yay.- Advertisement –
– Advertisement – Scott Gottlieb, former Commissioner of the FDAAdam Jeffery | CNBC – Advertisement – The next two to three months will be difficult for Americans as the coronavirus sweeps the nation and the second surge of the virus picks up steam, says Dr. Scott Gottlieb, the former commissioner of the FDA and a CNBC contributor speaking at CNBC’s first Workforce Executive Council Summit on Thursday. As he points out, even as drug manufacturers make progress on a vaccine and treatments, epidemiologists, scientists and public health officials are warning that the United States has yet to see the most difficult days of the outbreak.“We are three to four weeks behind Europe now and we are headed in the same direction in terms of the progression of the disease,” he said. “We are not moving fast enough to change our behaviors, reduce mobility and take policy actions to stop the trend.”“Looking at the epidemic curve, Covid cases will peak in January and we will see cases starting to decline in March,” Gottlieb predicted. – Advertisement – “Hopefully, we should have some semblance of normalcy in the summer of 2021. By that time, it’s hoped the older population will be vaccinated. By the fall of 2021, the vaccine will be more available to people of all ages.”Although the U.S. has more tools to fight the virus than ever before, it will take time for them to be available for widespread use. Pfizer and BioNTech released early data from their late-stage vaccine trial on Monday that indicated it was more than 90% effective. If authorized, the vaccine could be available to a limited number of people as early as December, said Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Pfizer said it can make enough doses of its two-dose vaccine to immunize about 25 million out of roughly 331 million Americans before the end of the year.- Advertisement – Looking at the epidemic curve, Covid cases will peak in January and we will see cases starting to decline in March.Dr. Scott Gottliebformer FDA commissioner Disease statistics tell the grim story. New cases are rising in 47 states and D.C., according to a CNBC analysis of data compiled by John Hopkins University. They reached about 144,000 on Wednesday. Hospitalizations hit 65,300, with 12,000 ICU admissions. The regions taking the biggest hit: North and South Dakota, Utah, parts of Texas and Wisconsin, Dr. Gottlieb said. The sheer volume of new cases cannot be explained by increased testing alone, because daily new cases are outpacing the rise in testing, the health expert noted.“The biggest challenge the health system will face will be having enough health care personnel to handle the workload,” according to Dr. Gottlieb, who is also a board member of drug companies Pfizer and Illumina.Already governors are taking steps to slow the spread to avoid a contagion. In New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that he will impose a handful of coronavirus restrictions on residents and businesses across the state as it tackles several “hotspot” outbreaks. Restaurants and bars licensed by the State Liquor Authority will be ordered to close at 10 p.m. beginning Friday. Gyms will also be forced to close at that time, he said. The state will also ban gatherings of more than 10 people in a private residence, he said.A ‘dark winter’ lies ahead“In the weeks ahead we will see hospitals overwhelmed and that could galvanize change,” Gottlieb said. “It’s important people get flu shots since contracting the flu along with Covid doubles the risk of dying from the coronavirus.”The good news is that Dr. Gottlieb does not anticipate a big flu season in the U.S. this year because of social distancing and face-mask wearing measures that have been taken by the public. For business leaders trying to make a game plan, it’s hard to navigate through this unprecedented health crisis. There is a web of human, legal and financial considerations to grapple with.Dr. Gottlieb suggested that business leaders remain vigilant and keep health and safety issues top-of-mind. Covid testing, social distancing, PPE safety gear including masks, should remain a priority. So should maintaining healthy building environments, including good air filtration systems. One company doing a good job is Amazon, according to Dr. Gottlieb. “Amazon has its own lab and routinely tests its employees for Covid-19. It also aggressively does contract tracing if an employee tests positive for the virus. What the company is really doing is providing a tripwire for the community.” The upcoming holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas, Diwali, Hanukkah and New Year’s create the potential for super-spreading events across the country, experts concur.
Feb 27, 2006 (CIDRAP News) – The H5N1 avian influenza virus has spread to Niger and Bosnia-Herzegovina, media outlets said today, and testing is under way on birds found dead in Switzerland, Pakistan, and Kenya. The suspected H5N1 infections of two wild swans found dead in central Bosnia were confirmed today, according to Reuters new service, which attributed the announcement to Bosnia’s veterinary administration. About 4,500 poultry were slaughtered and buried within 3 kilometers of Malo Plivsko Lake, Reuters said.Additional birds are being tested, added Jozo Bagaric, head of the veterinary administration. Bosnia sits on a migration route used by birds from central and northern Europe, and Bagaric said the country is bracing for more cases.”Based on the risk analyses, we think that March is a critical period and we expect . . . new incidents in the future,” Bagaric said.Elsewhere in Europe, Switzerland has confirmed that a wild duck found dead in Geneva yesterday tested positive for an H5 virus, but the neuraminidase (N) type had not yet been identified, Bloomberg News reported. It is the first suspected avian flu case found in SwitzerlandNiger joins Egypt and neighboring Nigeria on the leading edge of Africa’s fight against the virus. Dead ducks found in the southern Niger town of Magaria had the H5N1 virus, which was also isolated from bird in the area of Dan Barde, said Maria Zampaglione, a spokeswoman for the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), as quoted in a Bloomberg report today.Authorities in Niger are using teachers and Muslim preachers to teach citizens how to protect themselves, Reuters reported today.”Every child who is taught how to protect themselves can in turn educate their parents,” said Ary Ibrahim, public health minister.Kenya could become the fourth African country with H5N1, if authorities’ fears prove true. About 400 dead chickens were found in a residential area of Nairobi called Kasarani over the weekend, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP). They were apparently dumped in that neighborhood. Catherine Wanjohi, deputy director of veterinary services in Kenya, told AFP that samples from the dead chickens are being tested, with results expected this week.In Pakistan, authorities have confirmed the presence of an H5 virus and quarantined two farms in Abbotabad, 80 miles north of Islamabad, and in Charsadda, 75 miles northwest of Islamabad, according to Reuters. Both farms are in the country’s North West Frontier Province, Bloomberg reported.Pakistani authorities, however, claim the virus is a low-pathogenicity subtype. Neuraminidase testing is under way, Reuters noted.”We have not ruled out that it is H5N1 but it appears to be a low-pathogenic strain,” said Mohammad Afzal, agriculture minister, as quoted today by AFP.Pakistani police sealed off the farms and slaughtered about 25,000 chickens, AFP added. In addition, the agency quoted a supervisor from one of the farms as saying that about 2,000 laying hens had died in the past week, but he termed that a normal rate.Outbreaks worsen in several countriesOther countries were dealing with the grim challenges posed by the spread of the H5N1 virus within their borders. The disease has been confirmed in 9 of 36 states in Nigeria, including Yobe and Nasarawa states, Bloomberg reported today. While the government weighed whether to vaccinate poultry, Nigerian farms prepared to receive their first shipment of poultry vaccine this week—1 million doses coming from Israel, Bloomberg reported.”We have been calling for the vaccine right from the beginning,” said Auwalu Haruna, secretary of Nigeria’s poultry association. “We can’t keep waiting for the government.”Haruna, who has about 17,000 birds near Kano City, also advocated culling backyard poultry, such as the roughly 500,000 backyard birds raised in Kano, Bloomberg noted. In a separate story that included other quotes from Haruna, Bloomberg reported that farmers are reluctant to report avian flu outbreaks, in part because they don’t trust the government’s promises for compensation.”The key to curbing this problem is for people to know their livelihoods are safe,” Haruna said. “If that’s not done, people won’t report.”Nigeria’s outbreak is of major concern because of the human and poultry density, said Joseph Domenech, chief veterinary officer with the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), according to a Bloomberg story published today. The country has about one bird for each of its 140 million residents, and 60% of the birds are backyard stock.”It’s very difficult to kill all the animals” infected by the virus, Domenech said.In addition, compensation for culled birds is about US $1.94 per chicken, about one-fourth of its market value.Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics estimates that 54% of the country’s people couldn’t afford to buy a food basket that would provide them with 2,900 calories a day, Bloomberg reported.Europe has continued to find more cases of H5N1 in several countries recently:In Germany, avian flu has been found in a fourth state (Brandenburg, which borders Poland), according to a Reuters report. In Romania, avian flu has now been found in 34 villages across the country and at a small Black Sea resort called Navodari, Reuters reported. In France, H5N1 has been confirmed as the culprit in the overnight deaths of 400 turkeys last week, marking Europe’s first outbreak on a commercial farm. The outbreak led to the Feb 23 culling of a flock of 11,700 56-day-old turkeys, according to an OIE report. “It struck like lightning,” farmer Daniel Clair said of the outbreak on his farm, as reported in the Guardian newspaper today.Across Asia, the struggles against H5N1 also continue:A Feb 23 FAO report notes that five serum samples drawn from one of three flocks of sentinel ducks in Kampong Cham province around Boeung Thom Lake in Cambodia in January tested positive for H5N1. Cambodia, which had four fatal H5N1 infections in people during last year’s flu season, has not reported a poultry outbreak to the OIE since March 28, 2005.In Gujarat state in India, two chickens found dead at a poultry farm were infected with H5N1, according to an Associated Press (AP) report. They were found at the national Poultry Farm. Gujarat is northwest of Maharashtra state, which had earlier found H5N1 outbreaks. The same story reported that 200,000 poultry had been culled in India since Feb 19.An official in China has warned that the country could face massive avian flu outbreaks, according to a Feb 25 Reuters story. Agriculture Minister Du Qinglin said the country culled 23 million birds in 2005, of which 163,000 were found to have H5N1, Reuters reported in remarks attributed to Xinhua, China’s official news service. Because of the increase in cases involving migratory birds, the possibility of a massive bird flu outbreak cannot be ruled out, Du said.
Jul 23, 2009 (CIDRAP News) – The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) may review vaccines for the novel H1N1 influenza virus the same way it evaluates the annual updates of seasonal flu vaccines, which would probably lead to faster FDA approval than occurs with brand-new products, an FDA official said in the wake of an FDA advisory committee meeting today.FDA spokeswoman Peper Long said the FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC) expressed support for an FDA staff recommendation to handle the H1N1 vaccines the way seasonal flu vaccines are handled. The committee met today to publicly air H1N1 vaccine issues.Five companies—Sanofi Pasteur, Novartis, CSL Ltd., GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), and MedImmune—are rushing to make H1N1 influenza vaccines for the US government and are launching or preparing to launch clinical trials. US officials want trial data as soon as possible so they can approve vaccines in time for a potential renewed surge of the virus this fall after children return to school. The committee didn’t make a formal recommendation about how to regulate the new vaccines, but a consensus in favor of using the seasonal vaccine approach emerged, Long told CIDRAP News.Long noted that manufacturers with established seasonal flu vaccines file a supplemental application each year after changing one or more of the three flu strains in the vaccine, in line with FDA recommendations. A “strain change supplement” usually doesn’t require new clinical data, though some immunogenicity and safety data usually are available, she said. The other licensing pathways for vaccines are to file a biologics license application (BLA), involving a formal process with full clinical trials, or to seek an emergency use authorization (EUA). In declared public health emergencies, the FDA can provide an EUA for products whose effectiveness has not yet been fully demonstrated.”The third way is a strain change supplement, which is how flu vaccines are approved every year,” Long said. “That doesn’t usually require new clinical data.””A strain change supplement will allow us to license a vaccine based on our experience evaluating vaccines over the years, so if necessary we can have a vaccine ready to go,” she said. With clinical trials starting now, some results are likely to be available by the time the vaccine is needed, she added.”We’ll start to see some first-round data by September,” Long said. The committee “pretty well agreed” with the strain change regulatory approach, she said. However, she said this approach would be possible only for vaccines that are not paired with dose-sparing adjuvants. The government has ordered supplies of adjuvants made by Novartis and GSK, but no US-licensed vaccines contain those adjuvants and, hence, their use will require special testing and evaluation.Long said a GSK official at today’s meeting discussed plans to test the company’s vaccine with an adjuvant. “That couldn’t be approved as a strain change supplement with FDA; that would have to fall under a regular BLA or an emergency use authorization,” she said. She emphasized that a final decision on how to regulate the H1N1 vaccines will be up to the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services and that the proposal to use the strain-change approach assumes that H1N1 vaccines will be needed before full clinical testing can be completed.”We’re preparing for a lot of contingencies, and each step along the way is its own risk-benefit analysis,” she commented. The five vaccine makers are all growing their vaccines in chicken eggs, the conventional production method in use for decades. Four of the five are dealing with low yields of the vaccine—half or less of what they typically get with seasonal flu vaccines, according to recent reports. However, MedImmune is getting a much better yield with its live attenuated vaccine, which is given as a nasal spray. Company officials who were at today’s meeting said they could make more doses than they have spray bottles to deliver, according to an Associated Press report.See also: Jul 23 VRBPAC meeting informationBriefing document for meetingGeneral information about the committee
In April this year, Prefect Goran Pauk and Minister of State Property Goran Marić signed an agreement on the allocation of the former military property Minerska to Šibenik-Knin County, and at the beginning of this week an addendum was signed to Šibenik-Knin County for an arrangement for which there is already a ready conceptual design. The island of Školjić is located in the ceremony of approaching the fortress of St. Nikola, which was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List last year, and with the construction of a pedestrian bridge towards the fortress, it will become a kind of its lobby. Namely, the info center of the fortress will be located on it, within the walls of the existing ground floor ruined building, which is located on the side towards the fortress, and all other interventions on Školjić refer to “cleaning” the situation in the area. In terms of content, it is a simple program that includes the sale of tickets for visiting the Fortress, info and promo materials and souvenirs, a small bar with refreshing drinks and a toilet for visitors.”By signing this amendment to the contract, the Šibenik-Knin County, as the user of the real estate and as the founder of the Public Institution Priroda, resolves the property-legal relations which are a precondition for the implementation of II. phase of the project “Tourist valorization of the Channel of St. Ante in Šibenik ”as well as the realization of the arrangement of the Visitor Center which will be co-financed by EU funds in the total value of 26 million kuna. Šibenik-Knin County is now ready to continue the implementation of this very important project and the arrangement of an island of 19738 m2”, Said the prefect Goran Pauk when signing the addendum to the contract, adding that the arrangement of Školjić will begin soon. The arrangement of the island of Školjić includes plots that are part of the significant landscape Kanal – Luka, and the protection refers to its natural features. However, as within the entire protected area, numerous and equivalent layers have formed as a result of human activity. On Školjić itself, there are remains from the time of military administration: bunkers and structures next to the bunkers, the arrangement of which includes cleaning and covering with safety nets. The bunkers will be illuminated from the inside, which will be perceived from the outside as ambient lighting. Arrangement of building structures next to the bunker includes cleaning and repair of dry stone walls, and some of these areas will be equipped with benches and tables. The economic potential of this area is exceptional, and its importance will become even greater after the completion of the rehabilitation and revitalization of the protected cultural property of the fortress of St. Nikola, which has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since last year. Kanal All Ante has been declared its buffer zone, which makes Minerska as such key to the protection of the UNESCO cultural monument – the pearl of Renaissance fortification architecture, for which funds have already been provided by EU funds for the preparation of project documentation…Thus, the last obstacle for the implementation of the project “Tourist valorization of the St. Ante in Šibenik ”. Of course, the financial construction of the entire project remains to be secured, but a good part of the funds has already been secured, and in accordance with Šibenik’s successful practice in withdrawing funds from EU funds and revitalizing fortresses, it is not questionable how the financial plan will be closed soon.So far, the Šibenik-Knin County has attracted more than 50 million kuna of EU money just for the revitalization of fortresses, and that is certainly not the end. Exactly next on the list of revitalization are the fortresses of St. Nicholas and St. Ivan, with which Šibenik will complete the revitalization of all four fortresses that will become a unique tourist product, such as the fortresses of St. Michael and the Baron.Tourist valorization of the St. Ante in ŠibenikBy the way, Šibenik is the first city in Croatia with two cultural monuments on the UNESCO list, which certainly additionally means the wind behind the development of cultural tourism in Šibenik.Tourist valorization of the St. Ante in ŠibenikKanal All Ante is part of the wider site “Kanal – Luka”, a significant landscape protected in 1974. It is more than 2000 meters long and between 140 and 220 meters wide. It represents the gate of Šibenik to the open sea and the entrance to the city. At the same time, the channel symbolically ends the path of the river Krka, but also its final confluence with the Adriatic. It is visible from all parts of Šibenik and although it is close to the city and relatively easily accessible, for historical reasons it has remained isolated and unknown. With natural beauties noticeable at first sight and a beautiful panoramic view of Šibenik, the Šibenik archipelago and the Fortress of St. Nikola, the canal hides numerous cultural and natural values. With the completion of the project and the construction of infrastructure, the site will provide the citizens of Šibenik and visitors with the opportunity to stay in nature and enjoy various activities. From afternoon family walks throughout the year, to organizing large events during the tourist season. Arranged trail, pier and lookouts, cultural goods and recreational facilities will enable various activities throughout the area.See more about the whole project HERERELATED NEWS: ATTRACTIVE SPACE OF TEF IN ŠIBENIK AFTER A LONG-TERM BLOCKADE FINALLY OPEN FOR INVESTORSŠIBENIK FIRST IN CROATIA GETS A BUILDING RECORDING SYSTEMNEW VISUAL IDENTITY OF THE TOURIST BOARD OF THE CITY OF ŠIBENIK
During 2018, compared to 2017, Kvarner was visited by 4% more guests (3 million arrivals) who achieved 2% more overnight stays (19 million overnight stays). In absolute numbers, the increase in overnight stays compared to 2017 is 400.000, and compared to 2016, as much as 2 million (12% more).5 leading markets together it realizes 13,7 million overnight stays (72% of the total number of overnight stays): Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria and Italy. Guests from Germany realize 4,8 million overnight stays alone and this year they record 5% more arrivals and 3% more overnight stays. From year to year the number of German guests is increasing: compared to 2016 there are 19% more arrivals and 17% more overnight stays, and in the last 5 years the tourist traffic of German guests has increased by 35% in arrivals and 40% in overnight stays. In second place in terms of the number of overnight stays are domestic guests with 2,8 million overnight stays, Austrians in third place (1,8 million overnight stays), and Italians in fourth (1,3 million overnight stays). The next 5 countries sorted by number of nights are Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and the Netherlands.Among subregions The island of Krk leads with 6,9 million overnight stays (share of 36% in the total number of overnight stays). During 2018, there were 6% more arrivals and 3% more overnight stays on Krk compared to 2017.In second place is the Crikvenica-Vinodol Riviera (3,2 million), and in third place is the island of Losinj (2,4 million). The ranking according to the number of overnight stays continues: the island of Rab (2,2 million), the Opatija Riviera (2,2 million), the island of Cres (1,1 million), the Rijeka area (800.000) and Gorski kotar (110.000). Among the destinations, the “best” is Mali Lošinj (2,4 million overnight stays), and Crikvenica follows it with 100.000 fewer overnight stays. As for accommodation in total 40% of overnight stays were realized in family accommodation (7,6 million). Camps are in second place (3,7 million, 20% share) and hotels in third (3,6 million, 19% share). Also, another detail is important to point out, and that is how the largest percentage increase was achieved during the off-season months. Thus, in the first 6 months, 8% more overnight stays were achieved, and in the off-season 4% more overnight stays, while the “main peak” of the season was at the level of last year. “When we analyze the good tourist results that Kvarner can boast of in the last few years, we see that the growth is not accidental and that the direction in which we are going is the right one. Through the joint work of all tourist entities in Kvarner, success did not come by itself, a lot has been done and is being done to promote new content and raise the quality of services.”Concludes Peršić Živadinov. The message for the end is not to raise prices, but to raise quality.More one record season na Kvarner For several years, the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County has been subsidizing loans for family accommodation hosts in the Kvarner family program, and the goal of the program is to improve the service and raise the quality of accommodation in facilities that provide catering services in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. Thus, the hosts in family accommodation with an interest rate of 1 to 2% had the opportunity to raise the quality of family accommodation, in which 40% of overnight stays were realized in Kvarner last year, ie 7,6 million overnight stays. That this measure proved to be a complete success is shown by the fact that in 2018 the trend of demand for higher category accommodation will continue in Kvarner.Photo: Kvarner.hrThe increase in family accommodation is 4%, but family accommodation with 5 * achieved as much as 26% more overnight stays. The same goes for campsites: 4% increase in campsites collectively and 28% in campsites of the highest category.Although, when we look at the overall statistics, hotels in 2018 realized slightly fewer overnight stays (-2%), it is important to emphasize that hotel accommodation of the highest category, ie 5 * hotels, recorded an increase in overnight stays of almost 10%.Regardless of the category, 5 * facilities in 2018 in Kvarner achieved an increase in the number of overnight stays of 20%The conclusion is clear. The better the accommodation, the better the occupancy, and thus the earnings from tourism. And that is why the visionary project of investing in raising the quality of family accommodation through subsidized loans proved to be a complete success. The Zadar County is moving in a similar way, and there is an initiative in Istria.”As far as accommodation capacities are concerned, there has been a trend for a long time – the higher the number of stars, the higher the occupancy. Tourist workers have also recognized these new trends in the market, and this is most vividly shown by the data on, for example, investments in family accommodation. In Kvarner, half of the accommodation capacity is in family accommodation, and that is why through the Kvarner Family project which we brand family accommodation and the help of PGC, which subsidized the interest rate to renters who wanted to invest, we helped them achieve that. In a couple of years of implementation, the measure has visibly contributed to the results – in the last 2 years the number of private facilities with 5 * has doubled, and facilities categorized with 5 * have achieved as much as 26% more overnight stays this year, which is a big increase when compared to 4 % of the total in all family accommodation facilities in Kvarner during 2018.”Points out the director of the Kvarner Tourist Board, Ph.D. Irena Peršić Živadinov adds that thanks to such investments, renters will provide their guests with higher quality in the long run, and they ultimately took the opportunity to increase their own earnings from tourism.

Today, Croatia Airlines will operate a regular flight on the route Zagreb – London Heathrow, but instead of the A319, a larger capacity aircraft – the A320 – will operate on the route today. Dubrovnik Airport, in addition to the British Airways flight, will have another EasyJet flight to London and one to Bristol (on both flights the maximum capacity is 180 passengers). In order to meet the great demand that arose after the decision to include Croatia on the “red list” of countries, British Airways will land in all three Croatian airports today with an A321NEO aircraft, reports from Croatian Aviation. “Given the number of seats offered, it is clear that this is not enough for all tourists from Croatia to return to the UK on time, before the introduction of restrictive measures. After all, certain routes have already been sold out, while prices on some flights have exceeded the average several times”Point out from Croatian Aviation. In addition to British Airways, which will perform two flights from Split Airport today, three EasyJet aircraft (capacity 180 passengers) will take off for London, as well as WizzAir aircraft A321 (capacity 230 passengers). Photo: British Airways Source: Croatian Aviation British Airways normally operates to Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik on smaller capacity aircraft, but today due to high demand from British tourists who want to return to their country before the new measures come into force (14-day self-isolation for all passengers coming from Croatia), regular routes to the three mentioned airports use a larger capacity aircraft – A321 NEO. This aircraft has a capacity of as many as 235 passengers (for comparison, A319 and A320 aircraft with a capacity of 144 to 180 seats usually operate in Croatia).
